To establish a policy governing sexual harassment in the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc. work environment.

1. Definitions
1.2 Sexual Harassment
Unwelcome sexual advances, request for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment when: (1) submission to such conduct is made explicitly or implicitly a term of condition of an individual’s membership or employment or (2) such conduct has the purpose or effect of interfering with an individual’s work performance or creating an intimidating hostile, or offensive working environment.
Sexual Harassment also includes:
- Requests for sexual favors
- Sexual inquiries and vulgarities
- Language of a sexual nature
- Other verbal or physical conduct of sexual or inappropriate nature
- Sexually offensive, explicit or sexist signs, cartoons, calendars, objects, literature, videos, photographs or on-line pornography:
2. Reporting Procedures:
A member or employee who believes he/she has been sexually harassed shall report the entire matter to his/her immediate supervisor. If the member or employee does not feel comfortable reporting to their immediate supervisor, they shall report directly to the Chief or President
If the report is made to the immediate supervisor, the immediate supervisor shall immediately report the entire matter to the Chief or President
Complaints of this nature shall be kept confidential
