NIMS Testing

The following NIMS courses are required for all members.  The links below will direct you to the FEMA web site overview page for the course.  Follow the links on the right side of the page to take the course and then take the final exam on-line. Further instructions are available on the overview pages.

ICS-100 Introduction to Incident Command System

Take the Course:  NIMS ICS-100b

ICS 100, Introduction to the Incident Command System, introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

ICS-200 ICS for Single Resource and Initial Action

Take the Course:  NIMS ICS-200b

ICS 200 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS.

ICS-700 A National Incident Management System

Take the Course:  NIMS ICS-700a

This course introduces and overviews the National Incident Management System (NIMS). NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all government, private-sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents.

ICS-800 Nation Response Framework

Take the Course:  NIMS ICS-800b

The course introduces participants to the concepts and principles of the National Response Framework.

WMD/Terrorism Awareness for Emergency Responders

This online course focuses on training responders to meet the requirements established in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 472 (2008 ed.), Chapter 4, “Competencies for Awareness Level Personnel,” and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.120 (q) (6) (i) (a-f) “First Responder Awareness Level” competencies.

This course takes an all-hazards approach to Hazardous Material (HazMat) incidents, including acts of terrorism where Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) materials may have been used. It provides participants the knowledge to recognize the hazardous material, protect themselves, notify others, and secure the scene.
